Employee Highlight: Recognizing Jessica Musseau
Jessica launched her IT career by building an early morning fire in the fireplace and watching a full-blown turkey brawl with Brian, the founder at Automation Concepts. Before you get ahead of yourselves, Jessica was working part-time as a Guest Service Representative at a high-end campground that had just come onboard as Automation Concept’s newest client, and Brian was there overseeing the onboarding process. It was early in the morning on a fall day and the campground office always had a fire burning on cooler mornings.
Jessica had not planned on getting into the tech world when she went to school to get her bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Management, she had dreams of setting off and working in the music industry. After working backstage for several Boston venues and touring artists, she quickly learned it wasn’t about the amount of schooling you had -- it was all about networking and connections, that would move you up in the entertainment field.
Automation Concepts had been growing rapidly and Brian had just made an offer to a promising candidate, to fill the much needed role of Office Manager, who turned him down when the company she was temping for counter offered. Visibly frustrated, Brian shared his frustration with a manager at the campground who immediately suggested that he hire Jessica. Brian recalled Jess lit a one-match fire, which seemed like an excellent qualification. A few weeks later, just in time for Christmas, Jessica joined the Automation Concepts Team.
Fast forward four years -- Jessica has worn many different hats within the company; Dispatch, ordering, purchasing, marketing, accounting, participating in community outreach as an ambassador with Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, and has even worked as a field tech. When faced with a client, looking to have part-time onsite tech during the week, Jess, who lived the closest and stepped into the role. She quickly learned basic troubleshooting methods, learned the ins-and-outs of medical software, and even learned to punch down cables. Now back in the office full time, Jessica is the company’s Operation Manager, ensuring that the products are shipping, techs are working, and the cash is flowing.
Transitioning into her life of “adulting”, Jessica became engaged to her boyfriend Paul of eight years, on top of Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park while on vacation. They are planning to wed in October 2021 on the beautiful shore of Anna Maria Island, Florida. Taking another big adult step, the two just recently bought their first home in a nearby town.
Jessica continues to learn more and more about the company as she continues to take on more responsibilities and gains more experience. Even though, her post college career didn’t start off the way she planned it, she says “falling into the World of Tech was the best thing. Tech is never going to go away and it’s only going to get bigger.”
